Auburn Football Practice Report Weeks of 9/7/2009

After a day off Sunday, the Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Monday night, working out in helmets and shorts for a little more than an hour on the fields behind the Athletics Complex. Auburn changed its typical practice routine this week due to Labor Day, moving practice from Sunday to Monday. The team held meetings in the afternoon before practicing Monday night. Monday night’s practice focused on correcting mistakes found in last Saturday’s season-opening 37-13 victory over Louisiana Tech. Auburn also worked on special teams and started scout team preparation for this Saturday’s SEC opener against Mississippi State. Following the practice, defensive coordinator Ted Roof said that after reviewing film of the victory over Louisiana Tech, he was not surprised by what he saw from his Tiger squad that allowed just 13 points and 245 yards of total offense. “It was pretty much exactly what we thought,” said Roof. “It was good effort, good physicality and swarming the ball. But there were way too many mistakes and that’s something we have to get corrected, and have to get corrected right now.” Auburn (1-0) will return to the practice fields Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. CT as the Tigers continue to get ready for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State (1-0). The Bulldogs won their season opener as well, thumping Jackson State, 45-7. Saturday’s game against Mississippi State will kick off at 6 p.m. CT from Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised by FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Southwest and Sun Sports. Fans in other parts of the country should check their local FOX Sports affiliate or other local listings to see if the game is available in their area.
